Dickson R. Manns

Owner & Manager

Dickson was a 2013 honoree of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association as he marked 40 years of service excellence with his mortuary science license. He obtained his degree from Wayne State University.

Another deep skill-set has occupied Dick for 40 years:  he just received a 40 years' award from the Michigan Association of Fire Fighters Local 80, where he has worked as a firefighter for Green Oak Township. He has also spent many years in Fire Service Training and EMS.

Dickson and Joanne (Zerbst) Manns, are graduates (and high school sweethearts) from Livonia's Bentley.

Dickson reflects, "As with mom and dad for over 75 years, funeral service has been a major part of our childhood and adult lives. We've simply made a commitment to guide and serve others with as much care and hospitality as we are able."

Joanne Manns

Office Manager

If you’ve ever admired our gardens and landscape, lingered on a front porch bench beside a fern and flowered urn, stepped into our lounge and felt at home, marveled at the curio cabinet’s floating shelves or relaxed by the fireplace as your grandkids stretched out on the plush carpet to read or color, you have enjoyed the talents of Joanne Manns, our office manager.

Each year, Joanne designs the lovely berms, borders and flowerbeds which have twice won Livonia's "Beautification and Improvement Award".

Along with her husband, Dickson, Joanne cares for the comfort and décor of our facilities, inside and out.  Joanne is a devoted mom and grandma and is very active in their church.

Joanne meets with families to make arrangements, design your memorial items and compose an obituary. As office manager, Joanne can also assist you with your statement of services.  Feel free to contact Joanne with anything you might need assistance on.

Hilary Manns Gentry

Hilary Manns Gentry

HILARY, the daughter of Dickson and Joanne Manns, graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2014 and received her Michigan Mortuary Science License that same year.  She completed her resident training in Ann Arbor, which provided her with experience in multicultural funeral traditions. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Ashford University in Iowa, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Funeral directing is not the only way she has followed in her dad, Dickson's footsteps.  Hilary was a licensed EMT-P and an EMS Instructor/Coordinator. She worked as a Paramedic, EMS Instructor and Medical Examiner Investigator for Livingston County. Her experience and educational background set her on the path to become the Health Emergency and Mass Fatality Planner for the State of Michigan. This position also included, among many other thing, managing the coordination of the Michigan Mortuary Response Team (MI-MORT), which has become a nationally recognized, state-level mass fatality team.

Hilary enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her children, who are active in sports and school activities, keep her busy.

Hilary brings warmth, caring and skill to everything she sets her hand to.
