Marion "Mern" Louise Sandberg, 98, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away on April 19, 2020, with her husband at her side.
Marion was born in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1921 to Albert and Margaret (nee. O'Farrell) Mineweaser. She graduated from Osceola Mills High School and continued on to receive an associate's degree from Schoolcraft College.
Marion was married to John V. Sandberg on August 3, 1946; they were married 73 years.
Marion last worked in the tax department for the City of Livonia. She enjoyed square dancing and traveling by motor home with her husband. They visited every state in the United States mainland and every province in Canada in their motor home. She was on a golf league until she was almost 90, was a Girl Scout leader and a religious education teacher. She volunteered for many church activities at St. Genevieve Catholic Church and also helped senior citizens prepare their taxes.
Marion is survived by her husband, John, her daughter, Kristen (Merico) Foleta, and her grandsons, Phillip and Nicholas. She is also survived by seven siblings and many nieces and nephews.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margaret, her step-mother Anna (who raised her from a very young age), her sisters Jane and Rita, and her brother, Charlie.
Marion will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on April 29, 2020. A memorial Mass will take place at a later date.
