It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Wendell Howard Johnson, on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born in Royal Oak, MI on April 1, 1926 to Ethel and William Johnson.
He attended Plymouth schools and joined the US Navy. He proudly served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign from 1944 through 1946. When he arrived home, he married the love of his life, Virginia Woods. They had been married almost 70 years when she passed in 2016.
He worked for the Jervis Webb Conveyor Company in Farmington Hills, MI as a sales engineer and retired in 1990.
“To know him is to love him” Wendell had an engaging personality with a quick wit and made friends everywhere he went. His family adored him. Even at 95 years old, he is gone too soon. He also had a deep Christian faith and was a member of Crosspointe Meadows Church (formerly Redford Baptist Church).
Wendell is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, his son Larry, and his brother Owen. Left to cherish his memory are his children Karen Wlodychak (Michael), Debra Alessandrini (Ronald) and Scott Johnson (Beth); his brother Robert Johnson (Debbie), along with many grandchildren, great-children, nieces, nephews and friends.
Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to The Warrior Alliance, The Navy- Marine Corps Relief Society or Crosspointe Meadows Church in Novi. Special thanks go to the caring staff at Woodhaven Retirement Community in Livonia.
