Theresa Ellen Furget

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Theresa Ellen Furget, age 73, of Livonia, Michigan, who passed away on May 28, 2026.

A Life of Dedicated Service

Theresa dedicated her professional career to serving the State of Michigan in the disability determination program. She began her career as a Disability Examiner and, through her hard work and dedication, was later promoted to Quality Assurance Analyst. She was also a proud member of the National Association of Disability Examiners (NADE). Her commitment to her profession allowed her to enjoy an early retirement on November 23, 2013.

Devoted to Community and Culture

Theresa was a vibrant and active member of her community. Her faith and civic spirit were reflected through her membership at Ward Church and her involvement with the Civitans.

Those who knew Theresa will remember her love of bringing people together. She looked forward to hosting gatherings throughout the year, especially her cherished Christmas Open House. Everyone who knew Theresa also knew of her love for snowmen. Her extensive collection of snowmen was a source of pride and joy, becoming a beloved part of her home during the holiday season. During retirement, she enjoyed spending time with close friends and pursuing her passion for the arts as a devoted season ticket holder of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO).

Family and Legacy

She is survived by her beloved brother, Harvey (Shirley). Her nieces and nephews, Diana (Rob), Jeremy, Nathan and Kelly. Her great-nephews, Dylan, Aiden, Connor, Riley, Reese, and Louis, all of whom she treasured and loved as her own grandchildren.

Services

In accordance with her wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held privately for immediate family and close friends.
