Sandra M. Laroo

Sandra Laroo, 73, a long-time resident of Livonia, MI died October 13, 2023, at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI.

Sandy was born in Highland Park, MI on October 6, 1950.  She grew up in Detroit prior to her family finally settling in Oak Park, MI where she graduated from Oak Park High School in 1968.  She graduated from the University of Detroit in 1972 with a degree in teaching.  

Sandy was a homemaker while her children were in grade school.  She then went on to teach at Ross Business Institute before taking a job at Ford motor company working in their finance and promotions division prior to retirement.  During retirement Sandy volunteered her time helping senior citizens file their tax returns, attending plays and musicals with her friends, and staying busy around her house.  

Sandy was a smart, strong woman who was proud of her Armenian heritage and loved spending time in her kitchen.  She was an exceptional cook, treating her family by making their favorite Armenian delicacies for family gatherings.  Sandy encouraged strong academics with her two sons, proudly seeing them both graduate from college.  She spent countless hours and developed a special bond with her two grandchildren, attending their numerous sporting and academic events, and frequently taking them out to dinner.  Her presence at her grandsons’ sporting events, academic events, and family gatherings will be greatly missed.  

Sandy was a devoted wife and tended to her husband of 44 years, Guy Laroo, who preceded her in death.  Sandy was also preceded in death by her father Harry Buyikian Sr., mother Margaret Buyikian, and brother Norman Buyikian.  She will be immensely missed by her sons; Christopher (Stephanie) and Michael Laroo, grandsons; Andrew and Braylon Laroo; brother Harry Buyikian Jr. (June), and her extended family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John Armenian Church.

Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 7 pm Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt Rd., Livonia, MI 48154.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, in state at 10 am Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. John Armenian Church, 22001 Northwestern Highway, Southfield, MI, 48075.
