Michael James Moore

Michael J. Moore, age 73, of Redford Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Michael was born August 13, 1948 to William and Phyllis Moore in Detroit, Michigan. He was a graduate of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Detroit College of Business in Accounting.

Michael is survived by his wife of 51 years, Colleen Moore; his children, Katie (Richard) Huyghe, David (Theresa) Moore, Ryan (Chrissy) Moore and Emily (Jon) Ludwick; eight grandchildren, Aubrey, Cameron, Adeline, Mollie, Desmond, Makayla, Rhys, and Theo. He is also survived by nine siblings, Barbara Stanyer, William, Marion, Geraldine Murray, Patrick, Kevin, Bryan, Barry, and Eileen Canfield, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

As an accountant and CPA for over 50 years, Michael was self-employed and was actively working until shortly before his death. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed being a member of the Carl E. Stitt American Legion Post. He was an avid sports fan, loved to follow horse racing and could always be counted on for knowing betting lines and plays for upcoming games.

Michael was a very proud and private man. He was quick witted and always had great stories to share. He had an extensive network of friends and acquaintances. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 2pm-7pm with a funeral service at 7pm at Manns Family Funeral Home in Livonia, Michigan. Michael will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
