It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Mary Helen Tucker, who passed away on September 3, 2025, at the age of 62, following a long illness.
Born in Livonia, Michigan on March 1, 1963, to Madeline and Edward Tucker, Mary cherished her Catholic faith. Her faith journey led her to the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Las Angeles in Alhamra, California, and was professed as St. Laure Therese. However, after many years of service Mary chose to transition from religious life and relocate back to Michigan where she pursued her life-long calling to education.
Mary received her B.A. with high honors from Madonna College in 2007. In 2012, Mary graduated with a MAT with very high honors from Oakland University.
Mary had a successful teaching career that included St. Joseph’s of Lake Orion, Michigan, and St. Michael the Archangel of Livonia, Michigan. Mary was a dedicated and much-loved teacher and a force of inspiration to countless students.
Mary is survived by her seven siblings, Frances (James) Griffith, Nancy (the late William) Clarke, Thomas, Timothy, Stephen (Carolina), James (Jeanette), Barbara (Jeffrey) Baker, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
We will all remember Mary with great affection.
A funeral mass will take place on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Road, Plymouth 48170.
