Mary Ann Lindsay

November 11, 1947 — December 29, 2023

Mt. Juliet, Tennessee

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Mary Ann Lindsay. She passed away peacefully in her home on December 29, 2023 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Born November 11, 1947 in Livonia, Michigan, she was the only daughter of Virginia Barton McGarr and George Lyle McGarr.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughters, Rachel Elizabeth Robinson and Heather Lee Kirchgessner, and her grandson, David Summers.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Lindsay, her daughter, Laura Lindsay, grandaughters, Nadia Robinson and Rachel Dluhy, nephews, Alex, Daniel, and Eric Lindsay, and cousins, Jim Gray, Faith Phillips, and Amy Brant.

Mary followed in her mother's footsteps, studying to be a teacher at Michigan State University where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education in 1969. She was especially passionate about instructing young students to read and write, initially teaching at Hull Elementary school in Livonia followed by Whippany schools in New Jersey and Wheaton schools in Illinois. She and her husband decided to raise a family of their own, and she devoted her time and affection towards raising their three daughters, Heather, Rachel, and Laura.

Mary was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and enjoyed contemporary Gospel music. As involved members of the Church in NJ, Mary and her husband David became close friends of the Bogards and strong supporters of their nonprofit, Aslan Youth Ministries. Mary also loved spending time near the ocean, listening to the waves, and collecting seashells and sea glass on relaxing walks. She was a devoted wife and mother whose loyalty and encouraging words will never be forgotten.

We will always remember Mary Ann Lindsay for her strength of character, unwavering faithfulness to God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour and her love for family & friends. Her appreciation for nature's beauty and all God's creatures was endearing and compassionate. Her enthusiasm for life touched those around her through the years she graced this earth with us all.

Thanks are given to friends and family who prayed for Mary during her sickness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aslan Youth Ministries: PO Box 270, Red Bank NJ 07701 or online at https://aslanyouth.org/donate
