Lupe Alcantar, 88, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on June 13, 2026. She was born November 5, 1937 in Detroit to Odilon and Juana (nee. Rodriguez) Alcantar.

She graduated from Holy Redeemer High School, class of 1955, and continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Detroit College of Business.

Lupe worked as an accountant at Ford Motor Company until she retired, then worked at H&R Block while she lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

She loved baking and cooking family dinners, and she never missed a family member's birthday. Lupe also enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino, watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans and PGA Golf. She also appreciated quieter moments reading paperback books, building puzzles and working on crossword puzzles.

Lupe is survived by her siblings, Gloria Marendt, Linda (Richard) Brooks, Larry Alcantar, Lenor Alcantar, and Rebecca Alcantar, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and "Her Boy" Cocoa (dog).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Odilon and Juana; her sister, Jovita Greenberg; her brother, Anthony Alcantar.

A Memorial Mass for our beloved sister and aunt, Lupe, will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1721 Junction Ave., Detroit, 48209. A luncheon will follow the mass.
