Lenore Marie Buttery

June 2, 1930 — August 12, 2024

Brighton

Lenore M Buttery passed away August 12, 2024 at 94 years of age.

Lenore was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 2, 1930 to Harold and Eva Anderson. She attended All Saints Catholic School in Detroit from 1st through 12th grade and she was involved in All Saints Catholic Church as well, where she sang in the church choir and was featured as soloist for "Ave Maria" as a teenager.

At just 19 years of age Lenore married Albert Buttery on February 11, 1950. They were married for 62 years until the time of Al's death in 2012.

A devoted wife to her husband and loving mother to their seven children, Lenore diligently served as Homemaker and Family Manager throughout the years. She was a cherished neighbor and friend to many, as making new friends came very easily to her. She was invested in the lives of others, encouraging them and offering support as a good listening ear over countless long phone calls or visits. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were all very special to her and every one of them felt it. She made each one feel like they were her favorite. She had a loving heart, a very quick wit and a great sense of humor. She was a faithful Catholic who valued praying the Rosary daily and who's patron saint was St. Jude.

The last several years of Lenore's life were marked by dementia but the family was blessed by the fact that she knew all of them up until the end of her days. When the time came to transition her into a care facility she entered Ashley Court of Brighton where she spent the last 18 months of her life. There she was loved by the staff for her feisty spirit and quick wit. Open Arms Hospice also played a very important role in Lenore's care, as well as support to her family, in her final weeks. For all of those who helped during this transitional phase in Lenore's life the family is very grateful.

Lenore is survived by her children Lora Wills (Jerry), Kathleen Fortner (Michael), Richard Buttery (Linda), Robert Buttery (Amy) and Barbara Buttery, as well as Evelyn Redwine, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Lovingly known as the Queen by all those who loved her Lenore will be dearly missed.

Loved ones preceding Lenore in death are her husband Albert, daughter Carole Ann, son Albert Kenneth, sister Sharon Simon, Brother Larry Anderson, grandson Yancy Fortner, great-grandson Sitka Lawless and many long-time friends.

Visitation will be held at Manns Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 20 from 12:00 - 3:00 and a short Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00 pm.
