Katharine Jane Dedow

Katharine Jane Dedow (nee. White) of Livionia, MI passed away September 6, 2026. Kate was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 20,1949 to Charles and Rosemary White. Kate lived a life marked by generosity, tenacity, humor, and a deep love of music — especially the rock and roll that energized her spirit throughout her life.

Raised in Clarklake, Michigan, Kate carried her hometown's beauty, independence, and character with her. She embraced a wide range of interests: she was an avid reader, a lover of classic films, a devoted NASCAR fan, a follower of Vogue fashion, and someone who delighted in jewelry and the artistry behind it. Kate also cherished all things Irish — from the culture to the symbolism and never missed a chance to cheer for her beloved Green Bay Packers. Kate thought the best medicine was retail therapy.

Kate retired from AT&T, formerly Ameritech, where she spent much of her career in labor relations and the legal departments. She was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and the strength she brought to her work.

She is survived by her siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" Greene (Jim), Thomas White (Carol), Margaret Ruede (Phil), Patricia White McGrath ( the late Robert), and Amy Miller (Scott), along with nieces, Megan Sulfaro, Melissa Kissinger, Kimberly Pierce, and nephews, Jason Greene and Thomas Greene, who will forever cherish her memory.

Kate will be laid to rest at St. Rita Catholic Church, Clarklake, Michigan. A family only celebration of life will be held in Kate's honor.

Kate’s life was rich with personality, passion, and resilience. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
