Joseph T. Semonick

Joseph T. Semonick (aka “Smoky”) of Troy, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 with loving family by his side. He is the beloved husband of 72 years to the late Margaret Semonick, the love of his life, who passed just a few months prior. Born in Tower Hill, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1929, he is the son of the late John and Julia Semonick, and brother to his late siblings, John, Julia, Mike, Mary, George, Anna, Pete, Adam, Frank, and Steve. 

Joseph leaves behind his daughter, Joetta Rayfield (Bob); his sons, Joey Semonick (Colleen), and Randy Semonick (Vicky); his grandchildren, Leah Karnib (Hala), Mike Rayfield (Jennie), Tony Semonick, Chase Semonick, and Tori Wolfe (Nick); his great-grandchildren, Adeline Wolfe, and Mia Karnib; along with extended family and friends.

Joseph was a quiet, gentle, and caring man who loved his wife, Margie, and his family, more than anything. He had big hands and an even bigger heart.  

Joseph was a Marine and lived his life accordingly. He was loyal, generous, and extremely hard working.  He started working as a young boy at a movie theatre, a job he often and fondly recalled. Years later, after his time in the service, he moved to Michigan with his wife and became a successful entrepreneur by starting his own cleaning business. In his free-time, he loved going to the casino, tinkering at his tool bench, driving his car, and watching westerns. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and proud grandpa. He will be missed dearly. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joseph’s service on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Byzantine Catholic Church, 29125 Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI 48152 then to Acacia Park Cemetery, 31300 Southfield Road, Beverly Hills, Michigan 48025.
