John Orlyk, 87, of Northville, Michigan, passed away on November 17, 2025.
John was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 9, 1938 to Konstantin Orlyk and Nellie (Brodiak) Orlyk.
He graduated from U of D High and went on to study engineering at the University of Detroit.
John was married to Joanne (Fedyk) on June 20, 1964. They were happily married for 61 years.
John worked as an automotive designer at Ford Motor for 40 years. He was actively involved in several local churches including Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Michael’s in Dearborn, and Sacred Heart Byzantine Catholic Church in Livonia, where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
John enjoyed life to the fullest. Some of his favorite things were fishing, gardening, fine dining, opera, designing and making jewelry, and spending time with family, especially with his wife, daughters, and beloved grandchildren. John delighted in taking care of his family, especially asking his daughters if their cars were running well. He loved a good meal and took great pleasure in his wife’s delicious cooking.
John is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Jane (Hugh Watters) and Julie (Robert Walsh); his grandchildren, Abigail and Hugh Watters IV; his brother, Nicholas Orlyk, and sister, Mary Rakay.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Dearborn Heights, 26667 Joy Road, followed immediately by the Divine Liturgy at 11am.
