John Thomas Kandow

John T. Kandow, 79, of Livonia Michigan, passed away Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025.

John was born in Detroit Michigan, on March 28, 1946 to Felix and Julia Kandow. He was the youngest of 8 children. John went to Chadsey High School before entering an apprenticeship into Chrysler.

John married the love of his life, Carol, in 1965. They have been married for 59 years with 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

John retired from Chrysler in 2009 after 45 years as a Pattern Maker. He loved watching sports, especially the Michigan Wolverines, Go Blue! He loved Saturdays, as family and friends would come over to watch sports, play jarts or cards, eat, or just hang out to talk and laugh. He looked forward to warmer weather so he and Carol could enjoy their cottage on Houghton Lake. John enjoyed fishing, being by the water, and he loved having his family and friends go up and spend their summer holidays together.

John is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, John Jr, Thomas, and Cindy (Philip) Dziurgot; his grandchildren, Thomas Jr, Erica, Ashlee, Jacquelyn, and Nickolas; great grandchildren, Sophie, Christopher, Layla, Yousef, and Gracie; his brother, Tony and sister Dorothy Pollak; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Julia; brothers, Frank and Leo; sisters, Jane Topor, Irene Kolongowski, Ann Gruse, and some nieces and nephews.

Visitation for John will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 10:30am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at St. Genevieve - St. Maurice Catholic Church, 29015 Jamison, Livonia, 48154.
