Joel Thomas Sawyer

JOEL resided in Livonia for many years until his death at the age of 70. He is retired from the duties with the United Auto Workers (UAW) as an International Staff Representative. Prior to his position with the UAW, Joel was a Tool & Die maker for General Motors, at Fisher Body. He is the beloved husband of Sheron for 49 years; they met as high school sweethearts! Joel is the dearest father to Lisa (Craig) Zollars, and Kathleen (Matt) Anderson. He is the loving grandfather of four: Ryan, Joel, Eva, and Logan. He loved classic cars, and spent countless hours restoring a 1955 Cadillac and a 1944 Dodge Truck. With Sheron, Joel proudly drove the yearly Woodward Dream Cruise, and attended car shows, winning many awards! Spending time with Sheron was always the bottom line, and they cherished their getaways to their condominium near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Although Joel struggled with cancer for many years, he was a man filled with humor and love, and that is how he would wish to be remembered. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
