Eugene Edwin Zarecki

Eugene Edwin Zarecki, 97, passed away August 12, 2020. He was born April 30, 1923 in Detroit to Edwin F. and Wanda (nee. Schuster). Eugene married the love of his life, Ruth Lightfoot Shull, on March 30, 1946; they had four children, Kathleen, Philip, Matthew, and Gabrielle.   He was such an amazing man! He was known for his big smile, big heart and big glasses.    He was a devoted son, WWII Marine Corps veteran, Cadillac employee, husband, father and grandfather.   He smiled easily, loved his *family*, animals, music, and, back in the good old days, enjoyed dancing the foxtrot, cha cha, rumba and swing with our mom. He liked talking about science and religion, and grew in his understanding and open mindedness throughout all of his years. He lived 97 long years, and then the time came for him to move onto his next adventure. And Mom was there, waiting with open arms.   Eugene is survived by his children, Kathleen (Wendell) Proudfoot, Philip (Yolanda), Matthew, and Gabrielle (Dariusz) Nisenbaum; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Timothy, Cody, Sarah, Samantha, and Brian; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Garrison, Gabriel, Deus, and Owen; great- great-grandchildren, Roran and Sabrina.   A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date, when we can all be together.
