Eleanor Gertrude Masheff

Eleanor Gertrude Masheff, 94, of Livonia, Michigan peacefully passed away at home on February 2, 2024.

Eleanor was born in Detroit to Henry and Augusta Krug on October 7, 1929. She graduated from Central High School in Detroit then went to work at the YMCA main office where she met her soon to be husband, Luben Masheff (deceased). Eleanor and Lou were married on May 20, 1951 and had three sons; Michael, Jeffrey (deceased) and Douglas. She had three grandchildren; Bernard, Wren and Crystal and two great grandchildren, Delilah and Isaac

Eleanor loved traveling. In her years she traveled through Europe where she spoke German fluently making it easier to get around. She had family in Germany that she kept in touch with. She also went to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, all 50 states, Turkey and lived in Mexico for a couple of years while Lou was helping build a General Motors plant in Saltillo. She also enjoyed rock hunting when on vacation always bringing back at least 10 pounds of mementos when she could. Knitting and crocheting filled her time when she wasn't busy cooking for 3 hungry boys, gardening both flowers and food or feeding the wildlife in the back yard. Later in life when things were slowing down Eleanor wouldn't just sit doing nothing, she found a group of people that would become close mall walking friends. Later in life these friends became very close and would not only walk but also get together for breakfast or lunches through the month.

Eleanor had two siblings; Karl Krug (deceased) and Jennie Lou Cox.

While growing up, Eleanor moved from Detroit to Atlanta then New Orleans before moving back to Detroit where she made life long friends that were still keeping in touch with her to the day she passed. She spoke about them with love frequently.

Her visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6th from 12:00 until the time of her funeral service at 4:00 PM at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt Rd (just south of Six Mile Rd), Livonia, MI 48154.
