Catherine Yates Doman, 96, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on August 3, 2022. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 28, 1925 to Filippo and Dena (nee. Zappa) Francia.
Catherine was married to James Yates, Sr for 48 years before his passing. Many years later, Catherine met Thaddeus “Ted” Doman at a senior dance and whom she later married. They were married 4 years before his passing. He was “the love of her life”.
Catherine worked as a sewer in a shoe factory in Ohio before moving to Michigan, where she began her career with General Motors as a sewer and moving up to a checker/quality control. She retired in 1989 after 34 years. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, dancing, playing cards with friends, making clothes, and shopping for shoes and purses. She also loved hummingbirds.
Catherine is survived by her son, James Russell Yates, Jr; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by James Yates, Sr, Thaddeus Doman, her parents, 8 brothers and 6 sisters.
Visitation and funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at Sy. Genevieve – St. Maurice Catholic Parish, 29015 Jamison, Livonia 48154. Visitation at 10:30 am with mass at 11:30 am.
