Carol Jean Dickson, 96, of Livonia, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by family.
Carol was born in Highland Park, Michigan on June 10, 1929 to George and Ruth Rogers. Carol graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit. She lived in Redford 1948 -1988, Livonia 1988 - 2018, and Independence Village in Plymouth 2018 - 2026.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, Harold, on September 4, 1948; they were married for 68 years and had three children, Dave, Gayle and Bruce. In addition to raising her beloved children, she worked as an assessor in Redford Township and served on the tax review committee in Livonia. Carol was an avid quilter and reader, along with enjoying ceramics classes, her book club and Bible study group. She and Hal loved to travel, walk along the Florida beaches, and dance together. She was an active member of the Elks Club in Plymouth and First Presbyterian Church of Northville. She will be remembered for her sassy spirit and devotion to her family.
Carol is survived by daughter, Gayle (James) Gibbons and son, Bruce (Benita Wong) Dickson; daughter-in-law Ellen Dickson; grandchildren, Kelly (Brent) Tavis, Andrea Dickson, Chris (Betsy) Dickson, Scott (Carly Todd) Dickson, Michael (Melissa) Gibbons, Andrew Dickson, and Caitlin Dickson; and great grandchildren James, Leo, Hadley, Claire, Grace, and Eli.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hal and her son, Dave; her parents, George and Ruth Rogers; and siblings, Joyce Goding and Virginia Greene.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Manns Family Funeral Home in Livonia. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Northville. Friends and family may gather at the church at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association or First Presbyterian Church of Northville in honor of Carol’s memory.
