Robert “Bob, Rocky” Tripp, age 95, of Livonia passed away April 6, 2018.

Bob was born in East Grand Forks, Minnesota on July 25, 1922. He graduated from East Grand Forks High School. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 103rd Infantry Division.

Bob married Betty on April 27, 1946; they were married 71 years. Betty, his dear wife, passed away on their 71st anniversary.

He worked at various jobs before working for Detroit Plastic Tile Co. Bob later became co-owner and expanded into Beacon Plastics. After selling the business, he worked for the Veteran’s Administration. Belle Tire and part time at Manns Family Funeral Home. Bob was a former Mason and Shriner and belonged to the American Legion and Disabled Veteran’s. He gave to several charities, most involving children. Bob has been very involved in church throughout his life, serving as Deacon, Elder and singing in the choir.

He was a voracious reader and loved mystery thrillers and anything written by Mitch Albom. He also loved music, and there was always music in his home whether it be on the record player, CD player, or his own singing. He had beautiful voice too! In their later years, Bob and Betty loved to do the morning paper crossword puzzles, watching favorite TV shows and old reruns, and playing cards with friends and neighbors.

Bob loved every sport imaginable. He bowled in several leagues, pitched and coached softball, golfed, played volleyball, and loved to fish with friends or alone in the middle of his parent’s up north lake for hours. What a perfect excuse for peace and quiet! He also loved watching sports on TV, especially his beloved Tigers.

Bob is survived by his Daughter Kathy (Rick) Goeckel; grandson, Rick, and great granddaughter, Alexis. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty and dear grandson, Rob. He adored his family, and they in turn could not have asked for a better husband, dad and grandpa.

Bob was friendly, funny, bear hugging and loving man and will be kept in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation for Bob will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM at Manns Family Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt, Livonia 48154.
